An extensive 60-day voyage circling the Land Down Under has been cancelled following the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the vessel on a distant tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the tropical location with shipmates from the vessel, but separated from the party for a pause. The liner departed without her and came back later that day after the ship staff realised the passenger was missing.

A large-scale hunt discovered her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, alongside investigators and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator stated that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and prior mechanical issues".

In a statement, he further stated that travelers would be provided a full refund, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the return journeys of the travelers via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also published an updated communication, and said they had "provided a notice to the Commander" preventing any new passengers from getting on the liner.

The representative said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its return.

The ship originally sailed from the coastal city on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the moment of the senior passenger's passing. The remote island was the first stop on the voyage.

Travelers on the ship - who generally pay large sums of currency to take part in the expedition - were transported there for a daily excursion with the choice of trekking or snorkeling.

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her family was "stunned and distressed that the liner left the location after an organised outing without my mother".
